This Darth Vader Lightsaber is one of several “working” lightsabers from the StarWars universe.  Others belonged to Obi Wan Kenobi, Luke Skywalker, Mace Windu, Yoda, Anakin Skywalker (a blue blade rather than Vader’s red), and Darth Maul (a double-bladed lightsaber).  The original “blade” was illuminated with an electroluminescent panel, but shortly after launch it was replaced by a segmented string of LED’s that enabled the emerging and retracting effects of the blade.

• Redesigned the basic mechanical structure used for all hilts to enable more efficient construction by the manufacturer and easier change of batteries for the user.
• Working with the manufacturer, created a prototype for approval by Lucas Films.
• Worked with the manufacturer through tooling and approvals to deliver the finished products to rave reviews from StarWars fans.  More than one million were eventually sold.
