The inventor’s concept was initially very successfully marketed by Mattel as “Air Pro Hockey”. Powered by 4 AA batteries, the product’s performance was determined by the power available in those batteries.

A second licensee of the concept challenged TG&A to improve performance. TG&A tested various rechargeable battery combinations and developed the custom, replaceable pack of rechargeable batteries to significantly improve performance and time of play. That design was executed in CAD.
